Description

The re-cladding and refurbishment of these 4 tower blocks was undertaken in two phases due to budget restrictions.  The initial re-cladding exercise was undertaken utilising CESP funding, thus requiring work to be completed within non-negotiable timescales. 

BCM undertook Dynamic Simulation Models of the buildings to investigate the optimum cladding specifications in order to achieve the optimum solution for the buildings, resulting in reduced fuel poverty for the tenants.  Subsequently BCM designed the mechanical and electrical services to enable the contractors to price the work accurately.

BCM were appointed at a late stage in the programme on these projects and had to assist the client to make up time in order to achieve the funding submission dates.  BCM’s ability to use their Dynamic Modelling expertise enabled the client to demonstrate, quantitatively, the carbon and energy savings which resulted in a successful CESP funding bid.
