Part L 2006 Legislation

The new Part L Regulations are due to come into force on 6 April 2006.

A mandatory requirement for all buildings is the production of a computer model (either SBEM or Dynamic Thermal Model). 

BCM  are ideally placed to undertake SBEM or Dynamic Thermal Models for any project.  (Care should be taken when using SBEM models as these may lead to higher capital costs for your projects).

In future, for all new buildings the carbon emissions will have to be calculated.  (Elemental and Whole Building calculation methods will no longer be acceptable).  Carbon emissions for Building Control approval will have to be reduced from current standards by 18 - 28%. 

Naturally ventilated buildings also have to demonstrate that they do not overheat.

BCM offer a specialist service to deal with the early stages of the design process which will enable Developers and Architects to progress with their designs, confident in the knowledge that the design will meet the exacting criteria.

The software we have been using for modelling buildings provides the perfect way to demonstrate compliance with the new Regulations and will be accredited for submission to Building Control. 

Part F
