When BCM was established it was a key feature of our philosophy to develop our designs in the most sustainable manner possible.

Appointing us as early as possible in the design process maximises the sustainable options that can be achieved, as we are able to discuss very basic principles with the Architect and team. This results in opening up opportunities for the Architect to be more creative and to reduce the overall cost of the project.

Sustainable design is often seen as being an expensive option but, in our experience, if we are appointed early in the process we can reduce the amount of traditional M&E services required and more objective decisions can be determined (eg. On the glazing solutions) which have a significant impact on the overall budget.

To create a successful sustainable building, the building services need to be fully integrated into the design and not applied as an after-thought.
